/ about the author

Hi, I’m Stacey.

I write science fiction and fantasy — hard sci-fi, military fleets, galactic empires, and the kind of fantasy that takes the same care with magic as it does with physics.

My books are about the math, when the math works. About the crew, when the crew has names. About the magic system, when the magic system has rules. About the moment a captain, a queen, or a third-shift engineer chooses, knowing the cost, to be the one who arrives in the future first.

I am a worldbuilder before I am a stylist, an engineer before I am a poet, and a stubborn defender of the idea that the rigour of hard sci-fi and the imagination of epic fantasy are the same craft in different uniforms.

When I’m not writing, I am reading flight manuals, drawing magic-system diagrams in the margin of meeting notes, and arguing — calmly, with patience — that *Andor* and *The Lord of the Rings* are the same story.
